Stored locally on your device ONLY:
- Conversation history (for your review and continuity - never sent to our servers)
Stored on our secure servers:
- Parent email address (for account management)
- Child's name and age (to personalize the experience and manage profiles)
- Child's avatar/emoji selection
- Subscription status (to manage premium features)
Processed but NOT stored:
- Your child's questions are sent to AI services for processing but are NOT stored on our servers
- AI services (OpenRouter and OpenAI) process requests with zero-logging policies
- We do NOT maintain any database of user queries or conversations
How We Handle Your Data
Your privacy is our priority:
- Conversations Stay Local: All chat history remains on your device only
- Real-time Processing: Questions processed and immediately discarded from AI systems
- No Query Storage: We never store or analyze your child's questions
- Profile Management: Child profiles stored securely for personalized experiences
- Parent Control: Delete all data (local and server) anytime through the app
- Minimal Data: Only necessary info for account management and personalization
Data Retention
On Your Device:
- Conversations stored ONLY locally
- You have complete control to delete anytime
NOT in Cloud:
- We do NOT store conversations in any cloud database
- No server-side storage of questions or responses
Processing:
- AI processes questions with zero-logging policy
- Child profiles, parent email, and subscription stored on secure servers
- Full data deletion available through app settings
AI Services and Data Processing
Askie uses advanced AI services to provide educational content:
- OpenRouter with Moonshot AI Kimi K2 Model: Used for generating text responses to your child's questions. OpenRouter does not store prompts or responses (zero-logging policy).
- OpenAI DALL-E 2: Used for generating educational images. OpenAI processes image generation requests with strict content safety filters.
Both services maintain content filters to ensure all generated content is appropriate for children.
Child Safety & COPPA Compliance
Askie is designed with children's safety as our top priority:
- We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
- We do not collect personal information from children under 13 without verified parental consent
- All content is filtered for age-appropriateness through multiple safety layers
- AI services we use (OpenRouter and OpenAI) have content safety measures preventing inappropriate content
- We do not share children's data with third parties for marketing purposes
- Parents have full control over their child's account and data
- All AI providers we use maintain compliance with child safety regulations
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
- Secure authentication through Auth0
- Regular security audits and updates
- Limited access to data on a need-to-know basis
- Secure cloud infrastructure with backup systems
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

- Questions are sent to AI services for real-time processing only
- AI providers (OpenRouter/Moonshot AI and OpenAI) process but do NOT store queries
- Responses are sent back to your device and stored locally only
- We never store conversations on our servers or in any cloud database
Your Rights and Controls
As a parent, you have full control over your child's data:
- View all information we have collected
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Delete your child's account and all associated data
- Export your child's data
